DEFENDING CHAMPION JOCKEYS Rico Walcott and Chris Husbands swept the feature races on Saturday at the Northlands Park and Assiniboia Downs horse racing cards, respectively.

Those wins were the highlights on the Canadian circuit by Bajan jockeys who combined to win seven races on the day. Walcott once more emerged as the leader with three wins.

Walcott, who hails from Brittons Hill, won the feature third edition of the CAN$50 000 Fred Jones Stakes over one mile and one sixteenth to push his win tally to 57 from 197 rides. Sitting astride the 3/1 chance For Cash, Walcott stalked the leading trio for the opening six furlongs.

After the six-furlong was cut out in a swift 1:11.71, For Cash then rushed alongside one of the early leaders Killin Me Smalls. As the pair swung into the home turn, a stretch a duel evolved. Killin Me Smalls could no longer sustain the gallop and wilted under pressure in the final 100 metres to give For Cash a one length victory in a time of 1:44.30.
