A sharing of faiths

BARBADIANS of different faiths were “friends among friends, understanding and embracing diversity”, when they celebrated the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr with members of the local Muslim community last Friday.

Sabir Nakhuda and his wife Zaiboon invited Muslim and non-Muslim guests to a luncheon feast at their Husbands Terrace, St James home at which an array of favourite Indian dishes was served. The highlight was the chicken biryani which is prepared for such special occasions.

The Muslims had eagerly anticipated the appearance of the New Moon which signalled the end of Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting, to begin Eid celebrations with special prayers in mosques.
