‘Freeze BIDC’
A HIGH COURT JUDGE has been asked to restrain the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) from carrying out its decision to retire employees who were 60 years and over.
The matter will be heard on Tuesday in the Supreme Court following an urgent application yesterday by attorney at law Gregory Nicholls, who is representing seven of the ten BIDC workers who were forcibly retired five weeks ago.
The MIDWEEK NATION has also been reliably informed that yesterday the BIDC, through its legal team led by attorney at law Michael Yearwood, filed an application requesting the High Court to decide on the legality of the law that allows statutory boards to retire employees at the age of 60. (TS)
