ST LEONARD’S BOYS’ are now not only kings of secondary schools cricket in Barbados but also the Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools champions.

The Richmond Gap-based side added more silverware to their trophy cabinet when they defeated first-time finalists, Hamilton Lashley Foundation (HLF), by 17 runs in the final at Kensington Oval yesterday to capture the title for the first time.

Sent in, St Leonard’s rallied from dire straits of 67-6 to 134 all out in 35.1 overs, mainly through a responsible top score of 38 off 62 balls with four boundaries by all-rounder Damario Goodman, who batted at No. 7.

They were undermined by Vincentian off-spinner Glenroy Jacobs, who captured five for 22 in his eight overs. He was well supported by pacer Jadan Jones with three for 26.
