MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA are gathered at the office of the Disaster Emergency Management (DEM) in Warrens, St Michael where officials are meeting behind closed doors to discuss the recent developments with Kick ‘em Jenny volcano off neighbouring Grenada.

Officials meeting include Minister of Home Affairs Adriel Brathwaite, chief executive officer of the Queen Hospital Dr Dexter James, Keith Goddard of the Grantley Adams International Airport, Dr Lorna Inniss, Coastal Zone Management Unit and officials from the Ministry of Tourism.

Also present are Kerry Hinds, acting director of DEM and programme officer Robert Harewood.

Earlier today, the alert level on the Kick ‘em Jenny underwater volcano was elevated to orange.

An orange alert means there are highly elevated levels of seismic and/or venting activity and eruption may begin with less than twenty-four hours’ notice. Alert levels go from green to yellow, orange and then red.

Officials say they will meet with the Press shortly.  (CM)
