From the middle to the mike
PORT OF SPAIN – Not since Donna Symmonds graced the airwaves has a woman cricket commentator drawn the attention that Isa Guha has.
She is a woman assessing the men’s game, but the 30-year-old former England player is not intimidated and has been making a name for herself on radio and television as a commentator and pundit.
Born in Buckinghamshire in south-east England, Guha, who is of Bengali descent, made her Test debut at the age of 17 against India in 2002, forging a successful playing career as a fast-medium bowler.
It’s been four years since her retirement, and like many former players these days, she now enjoys her time in the commentary box analysing the game of both genders. More recently, she has been heard during the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
