Queen’s Park falling apart

QUEEN’S PARK was once viewed as a venue fit for British royalty and top military officials but now it appears as if it isn’t even fit for a pauper.

True, over the years the gazebo, the fountain, the well manicured lawns and the Steel Shed have been pictures of beauty, but we’ve also seen evidence of the dilapidated state of the cricket pavilion, the Daphne Joseph Hackett Theatre and the Queen’s Park Art Gallery.

And now, the play park is being added to the list of elements left to ruin.

Years ago a trek through Queen’s Park any day of the week, particularly on a Sunday evening, was met by boisterous sounds of excited children rushing to have their turn on the monkey bars, see-saws or swings, while parents stood watching anxiously begging them to be careful. (SDB MEDIA)
