Smaller but still grand

FEATHERS ruled the costume roost and bands were fewer than in past years, but by some accounts, it was“a great Kadooment” at the National Stadium yesterday.

The explosion of colour lit up overcast skies as over 10 000 revellers in 19 bands performed before a panel of judges and the noticeably smaller turnout of spectators who braved the weather to witness Barbados’ biggest party of the year. Spectators sat under tents as the Stadium is undergoing repairs.

The National Anthem signalled a prompt 9 a.m. start to what turned out to be just over three hours of parading led off by the Walk Holy band.
