Grass fire claims discarded bus
ACTIVITY at the Transport Board bus depot in St Philip was halted briefly yesterday morning when a grass fire encroached on the compound.
According to Lynda Holder, the board’s manager of marketing and communications, the grass fire started on the environs of the Mangrove site and the wind drove the flames toward the depot. One discarded bus was burnt.
Holder said the bus had no book value and had been earmarked for the scrapyard.
“It will not affect our actual rolling stock because it was not an active bus anyway,” she said.
