VINCENT LAYNE’S “last words” were quite possibly to his two long-lost sons.

The well-known son of St Philip visited the graves of the two boys at Bushy Park Cemetery on Wednesday morning.

Gravedigger Lester Hoyte, perhaps the last person to see and speak to Layne, told the WEEKENDNATION he saw the grief stricken farmer and inventor kneel in front of the two neighbouring graves with hands outstretched and head bent.

“He went behind the two crosses and he held them like that and he hold down his head,” said Hoyte, as he demonstrated the action.
