Revised health plan coming

THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH’S Risk Communication Plan will soon be revised.

The assurance came from Minister of Health John Boyce as he addressed participants at an Emergency Risk Communication Training Workshop hosted in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organisation at the Accra Beach Hotel, Rockley, Christ Church, yesterday.

Boyce said that the first such plan was developed in 2006. However, since that time, specific plans have been developed in response to the Ebola threat, for the chikungunya and dengue fever outbreaks, and consequently there is need for a modification.

He said that the revised blueprint was intended to craft an integrated plan which would identify in advance the activities that should be undertaken during each phase of a public health emergency. These were preparation, response, control, evaluation phases, in addition to a more strategic focus on the use of social media.
