Protocol to govern mobile device use in schools
WHILE THE MOBILE device ban will be lifted in schools, the Ministry of Education plans to institute protocols governing their use.
Minister of Education Ronald Jones told the media the protocols would deal with internet use and wireless technology. He was speaking after the annual meeting with Barbados scholarship and exhibition winners at the ministry, Constitution Road, St Michael.
He said the ministry recognised smart phones and such devices could have uses in learning but discipline was necessary. As such, he said they would draft a form to be signed by both students and their parents.
Jones also said the effort was not about increasing teachers’ workload but about creating a better environment and he expected students and their families to do what was right. (CA)
