Regional road meet still on
BARBADOS is still on track to host the region’s best riders.
Long-serving president of the Barbados Cycling Union (BCU) Keith Yearwood is confident his executive will comfortably pull off October’s Caribbean Elite Road Race Championships despite facing a steep $200 000 financial climb.
Yearwood gave the guarantee during yesterday’s press conference at the offices of the Barbados Yellow Pages while accepting sponsorship from the business’ parent company, Global Directories.
“Our major concern is getting the event on the road so once we cover the hotel and the police and those other people then we are good to go,” explained Yearwood.
“The police have changed the way they operate nowadays because you have to pay them in advance [but] we are getting there. We are working assiduously to make the event happen.
