Water pressure in City

Bridgetown was virtually shut down yesterday after a huge water main ruptured and while some areas have been restored, the misery will remain today for those in Roebuck Street and Greenfield.

The courts, VAT offices, restaurants, salons, stores and call centres all experienced disruption in their service and had to close early as health inspectors descended on The City to ensure consumers and workers were protected from potential illnesses.

The water outage lasted several hours and stretched from Upper Roebuck Street down, parts of Passage Road, Fontabelle  and Harbour Road.

Communications specialist at the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) Joy-Ann Haigh, said that at around 2 p.m. water was again flowing to some areas in Bridgetown that were affected by the burst main as engineers adjusted the distribution system.
