AFTER JUST MONTHS  of negotiations, Barbados and St Vincent and the Grenadines have

signed an agreement on the delimitation of maritime boundaries.

The prime ministers of the two countries inked the deal yesterday afternoon during a short ceremony at Government Headquarters, Bay Street.

This makes St Vincent and the Grenadines the first country within the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States to have such a treaty with Barbados.

“I know that boundary negotiations can be fraught with difficulty and can take years, sometimes decades. But our teams were able to move forward on the basis of mutual trust and good faith with exemplary alacrity.
