BROTHERS Axe and Tai Garrett had commendable performances at the recent Rip Curl Junior Grom Search surfing contest at the Newquay beach in England.

Axe, a 14-year-old student at Lester Vaughan, placed third among the Under-14 boys and got to the semi-finals in the Under-16 category to log his best surf competition result to date.

Tai, 11, who is also a Lester Vaughan student, reached the semi-finals in the Under-12 division in his first big international event.
