ONE LOCAL COMPANY is trying to take the chemicals out of agriculture.

Rex Suckoo, managing director of Rx Pro Inc. and Rx Pro Agro, is behind the move, which he says will have a positive impact on food and human health.

He said the Pine, St Michael company was trying to introduce its new organic technologies and products to Barbados “to change the way we approach the notion of how we deal with agriculture” in terms of the use of chemicals.

“What has happened is that we recognise that in order to try and maintain and improve health, we need to look at the approaches we take to the way we deal with our food, in terms of producing food [and] in terms of agriculture,” he said, adding that  farmers were using too many chemicals, for too long, to treat diseases or the soil. (HLE)
