Viola newest member of 100 club

BARBADOS HAS YET another centenarian steadily batting at the crease.

Viola Als celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday surrounded by family and friends, some of whom flew in to participate in the celebrations. Also in attendance at the festivities at the Jericho, St George residence was Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave.

The former seamstress and mother of three said she relied solely on God to help her reach the milestone.

“You gotta praise God and Jesus every day and go to church every Sunday too,” said the member of the Christian Mission Church in Workmans, St George.
