Dominica eased
JUST SOME bumps and bruises this time.
Dominicans stood with their collective fingers crossed on Monday night and yesterday morning, but the island emerged from more heavy rains with just a small amount of damage this time around.
It is still healing from the wounds inflicted by Tropical Storm Erika on August 27, and had to battle more landslides and raging floodwaters up to midday yesterday, when a tropical wave swept in from the Atlantic Ocean.
Once again, most of the damage was in the south of the island, with the areas of Soufriere and Geneva suffering the most damage. In Geneva, a bypass bridge was displaced, cutting off residents for a few hours.
