More Bajan aid for Dominica

BARBADIANS have been extremely generous in donating to Dominica.

This was the word from coxswain of the HMBS Leonard C Banfield, Petty Officer Stephen Cox, as he accepted donations at the Coast Guard base HMBS Pelican yesterday morning in preparation for the ship’s departure for Dominica.

The ship, loaded with thousands of bottles of water, boxes of food items, clothes and sanitary items, was due to leave around midnight last night piloted by commanding officer Ryan Alleyne.

Cox, who was busy yesterday morning receiving donations as well as answering calls to organise drop-offs, said companies like Cost-U-Less, Massy Stores, Beacon Insurance, H&B Hardware and Hanschell Inniss, non-governmental organisations as well as the public started bringing the items from Monday.
