GRANDPARENTS who once played an integral role in the Barbadian family are now absent and this has resulted in a decline in values within the home and society.
Deputy director of the Child Care Board (CCB) Denise Nurse, who made this point, said the shift was impacting negatively on children.
She made this observation while speaking at a panel discussion entitled Confronting the Liberal Shift: Protecting and Preserving God’s Family Structure Wednesday night at The Church of God, Chapman Street, The City.
“Due to this shift, grandparents are not as visible in a child’s life as before. Morals have declined and parents are standing for things not previously taken lightly.
