Dessie slams WICB

LEGENDARY WEST INDIES opener Desmond Haynes has hit out at the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), accusing the regional body of not having a system in place that will support Jason Holder’s captaincy.

Only last week Holder explained that his vision for Windies cricket is “getting everybody together”, but the cricketer affectionately known worldwide as “Dessie” fears that Holder will be stifled by the WICB’s structural inadequacies.

“I agree with Jason’s whole attitude towards bringing them together,” Haynes said during an interview with the NATION SPORT yesterday at The Cricket Legends of Barbados.

But Haynes stressed that the vision of unity was not Holder’s burden alone to bear.
