CDF aid now an option

THE WAY IS NOW CLEAR for Barbados and the so-called more developed countries in the region  to seek financial support from the Caricom Development Fund (CDF).

This has come about with the conclusion of the CDF’s first cycle which was aimed primarily to mitigate fallouts from countries disadvantaged by the Caricom Single Market and Economy (CSME).

Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica, though contributing the bulk of money to the fund, had opted against calling for monetary aid during the first cycle that ended in June.

However, due to the state of the economy in Barbados and other states, this policy is being adjusted for the second cycle that runs from 2015 to 2020.
