Another go at installing boom

YET ANOTHER attempt may be made today to resume the installation of a device to divert Sargassum seaweed from Crane Beach.

The operation was called off around 2:30 p.m. yesterday after 25 Coast Guard crew members and employees of The Crane Resort spent more than six and a half hours toiling in the sun and braving choppy seas.

A portion of the 1 100-foot seaweed boom had already been installed by the time the rough seas forced the delay.

The sections were assembled at nearby Foul Bay and attached to two 40-foot Coast Guard vessels and a tender before being transported to Crane Beach.
