STANDPIPES proved to be lifesavers for many St Lucy residents yesterday.
As water outages affected the entire parish the only pipes where water could be had were the hardly used standpipes.
And several residents drove around in cars and even on public transportation to line up by them, particularly at Bourbon and Bentham, St Lucy, to fill up buckets, bottles and other containers with water. Some even took a bath at the standpipe.
Residents complained that the water problems started from Monday afternoon when the water went off around 2 p.m. In other districts it went off yesterday morning.
