Cricket fans’ paradise

WHILE KENSINGTON OVAL may be regarded as the Mecca of West Indies cricket, just across the street is a place where fans can continue their pilgrimage.

Located at Herbert House, the Cricket Legends of Barbados Museum is the only place on the island that cricket fans can learn about and admire Barbados’ contribution to the glory days of past West Indies teams.

Cricket Legends Barbados Inc. chairman Desmond Haynes and chief executive officer Kenneth Payne sat down with the WEEKEND NATION and explained the idea behind the creation of what could be described as a cricketing time capsule.

“When you look at an island so small like Barbados, the number of cricketers that we’ve produced per square foot, it would have to be a record,” Haynes said. “So the idea of a museum was fitting because of who we have produced over the years.”
