Rain washes out play in final trial match
THE FINAL day of the second Barbados Pride trial match at Kensington Oval between Kevin Stoute’s XI and Omar Phillips XI was abandoned without a ball being bowled yesterday.
Umpires Gregory Brathwaite and Ryan Willoughby made the official announcement at 12:50 p.m. that play would not be possible because of persistent rain and a wet outfield.
Stoute’s XI were dismissed on the first day for a modest 174, to which Phillips XI replied with 479 for five.
The two trial matches in preparation for the second Professional Cricket League first-class championship have revealed that Barbados’ cricket has a rich crop of batsmen for the future.
