THE GLOVES ARE OFF. Schoolchildren will be prosecuted for any damage they do to Transport Board buses.

Furthermore, if they are caught fighting or otherwise behaving badly in any bus terminal, they will be hauled before the courts.

This no-nonsense approach from Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley comes in the wake of a 100 per cent increase of incidents involving damage to buses by schoolchildren over the last two years, with five such cases alone in the last two weeks that cost the board about $12 500 in repairs.

What’s more, the violence has been impacting on the ability of the board to provide services islandwide for other commuters.
