$20 million bill
BARBADOS DISHED OUT about $20 million in contributions to CARICOM institutions in 2014 alone.
Speaking at the official opening of the new headquarters of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) in The Pine, St Michael, yesterday evening, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart described the money as the country’s contribution toward the regional integration effort.
He explained to the dignitaries, staff and specially invited guests that when Barbados provided headquarters for a CARICOM institution like the CXC, it had to pay the rental and other related charges.
Included in that $20 million was approximately $6.6 million for the 13 CARICOM agencies based here, Stuart said.
