Turf still in Port

THE HOCKEY FRATERNITY will have to wait just a little while longer before the new AstroTurf is released from the Bridgetown Port.

Two weeks after Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Stephen Lashley said that the National Sports Council was successful in getting the duty waivers necessary for the clearing of the turf, it has still not left the Bridgetown Port.

When SUNSPORT spoke with president of the Barbados Hockey Federation, David Rouse, about the situation, he admitted that he was in the dark as to why the AstroTurf has not been released.

“I had some conversations with some members of the National Sports Council and we expect it around mid-November that the turf should be laid,” said Rouse.
