Birthday girl Doris pretty in pink on her 100th
DORIS ELISE KING reached her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends, eating cake, drinking non-alcoholic wine and exchanging repartee with Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave.
Dressed in a pink dress with matching crown, the lively centenarian joked with Sir Elliott as they sipped wine and read the letters from both him and the Queen.
Afterwards, King thanked the Governor General for coming and said she hoped to meet him again.
Her nephew, Alfred King, said his aunt had been a member of the Bethel Methodist Church for most of her life and worked as a domestic. He said she never married or had children, dedicating her life to Christian service instead.
