Bishop not in Pride plans

ST CATHERINE’s prolific wicket-taker Derick Bishop is eligible for selection for the Barbados Pride cricket team, despite his omission from trials.

Chairman of selectors Hendy Wallace made that clear on an edition of the Mason and Guest radio show.

But Wallace said the seasoned left-arm spinner, who at the time had taken a season-leading 79 wickets in eight matches in the Barbados Cricket Association’s Elite Division, wasn’t on his panel’s front burner.

“Bishop, like any other cricketer playing club cricket at the moment, is eligible to play for Barbados and to be considered for Barbados selection,” Wallace told host Andrew Mason before explaining why Bishop was excluded from the three recent trial matches.
