No rain could stop Rachel

WHAT WAS expected to be a night of entertaining semi-finals in the Silver Hill Road Tennis Championships was interrupted by rain which saw over three thousand spectators leaving the Silver Hill court on Wednesday night bitterly disappointed.

However before the early end, the fans got the chance to see Rachel Smith storming into her third national finals while Dario Hinds barely made it into the junior finals.

The rapidly improving Smith who lost two previous finals to the indomitable Kim Holder wasted no time in dismissing Abigail Haynes 23-21, 21-18.

Haynes, who was the last woman to actually beat Holder, surged from 8-15 to lock the scores from 18 and threatened briefly before folding to the determination and play from Smith.
