THE 2015 Barbados Chess Federation’s national championship is heating up.
Defending champion Yu Tien Poon joined Bryan Prescod at the top of the table at the end of the eighth round of games to set the stage for an enthralling finish.
While FIDE master Poon defeated Justin Parsons, pre-series leader Prescod, who had won six successive matches before drawing in the seventh round, suffered a defeat at the hands of Kemp Lynch.
It left both Poon, the recently crowned national Under-20 champion, and Prescod on six-and-ahalf points with three rounds of games to play.
