THE KING delivered again. Was there ever a doubt?

Barbados are still in Americas Group I as hometown hero Darian King came through in the clutch to emphatically win his reverse singles in the Davis Cup tie against Uruguay at the National Tennis Centre yesterday.

Faced with the pressure of relegation, Barbados’ No.1 literally came up aces, surviving some anxious moments and a set point in the first set before eventually downing Santiago Maresca 7-6(6), 6-2, 6-0 to give his home team an unassailable 3-1 lead over Uruguay.

Talented teen Nicolas Xiviller made the eventual margin more respectable for the visitors when he beat local veteran Russell Moseley 6-1, 6-4 in the ensuing dead rubber.
