TOO MANY YOUNG people are dying from accidents and violence in Barbados, and it is causing their families tremendous pain, says Reverend Dr David Durant.

Expressing dismay over the constant grief that mothers and fathers were going through, Durant said he was “appalled at the number of young people being taken out by accidents and violence . . . and I would like to see a reduction in this”.

He made the observation on Saturday night at the vigil in Long Bay, St Philip, to commemorate the lives of cousins Shakira Shepherd, 22, and Shameka Shepherd, 23, along with 18-year-old Carey Brathwaite and Wavney Johnson, 25, who died in a road accident at Two Mile Hill, St Michael, two Sundays ago.
