THE NATION PUBLISHING CO LTD is bringing the island’s youth together to stamp out violence in Barbados.

And it is using its upcoming Funathlon to engage the schools in adopting the anti-violence theme, Shine Bright Against Violence, during a combined 5K walk/run  and 10K walk/run starting in the north of the island for the first time on Sunday, November 15.

To hype the event, which starts at Mahaica Playing Field opposite the Speightstown Bus Terminal, St Peter, at 7 a.m., a NATION team will be visiting a number of schools in St Lucy and St Peter to launch the event.

During a visit to All Saints Primary yesterday, customer experience clerk Dawn Moore said they were there to motivate students to come out to ensure a shot at a $1 000 prize for the biggest school participating.

“We are encouraging the schools to sign up for the Funathlon. We have a number of prizes and we want them to come out in their numbers to get an opportunity to be able to win some money for their schools,” said Moore. (RG)
