STREET BEAT: Residents welcome bus project

IT IS SAID that patience is a virtue but for the people of Edey Village, Christ Church the long wait for buses is a test for the most virtuous.

Street Beat heard stories of people having to come out for hours beforehand in order to get to a destination on time and in some cases, having no choice but to seek alternative methods of transportation.

In light of this, the Transport Authority is launching its service integration pilot project where route taxis and minibuses would ply the route starting from next month, a decision which was met with almost universal praise from those who spoke to the team.

“It’s needed because they got people standing up for two to three hours waiting on a bus and can’t get to work. People have to spend money on taxis,” said Keisha Callender, who owns a shop along the bus route. (CA)
