DESPITE A CENTURY from Marlon Samuels, West Indies lost the third and final One-Day International cricket match against Sri Lanka today at Pallekele.

With West Indies tottering on 18 for four, Samuels fashioned a fighting 110 not out off 95 balls to rescue the innings. Only captain Jason Holder (19) and Carlos Brathwaite (18) made it to double figures as West Indies reached 206 for nine.

In reply, Kusal Perera stroked 50 and Sri Lanka received contributions down the order to score 180 for five before the rain intervened.

Sri Lanka completed the 19-run victory under the Duckworth/Lewis method to win the ODI series 3-0.

The teams will play two T20 matches next week. (SAT)
