Family still feels pain of deadly crash
Eight years ago a close-knit family from rural Barbados was plunged into mourning after losing four loved ones to a vehicular accident – an experience some of them said they would never get over. But time has proven to be the ultimate therapy.
On a bleak, rainy Wednesday morning in 2007 along Highway 1 at Mullins, St Peter, four members of the Depeiza family died tragically after the van in which they were travelling collided with a minibus.
Thirty-nine-year-old Gail, her son Shadane, five, daughter Shaquana, eight, and 15-year-old niece Claire Depeiza of Cole’s Cave, St Lucy, all died on the spot.
Today, members of the family say they still live with thoughts of that horrible morning that has left empty spaces in their hearts.
