PALLEKELE – Sri Lanka’s batsmen produced a stroke-filled blitz here yesterday to set up a 30-run victory over the West Indies in the first Twenty20 International.
Tillakaratne Dilshan’s top-score of 56 off 37 balls anchored a formidable total of 215 for three off 20 overs.
The 39-year-old set the tone with a 91-run opening stand with Kusal Perera, who stroked 40 off 30.
The finishing touches were provided by Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews, who helped the hosts plunder 84 off the last five overs.
Chandimal blasted an unbeaten 40 off 19 balls while Mathews was even more brutal in 37 not out off 13. (CC)
