BRIDGETOWN – Solid batting by Shamarh Brooks (54 not out) and Roston Chase (41 not out) helped Barbados Pride reach 166 for three off 61 overs in their first innings at tea against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force on the opening day of their second round Professional Cricket League regional first-class match at Kensington Oval here Friday.
Resuming from 73 for two at lunch, Barbados lost Kyle Corbin for 46 when he edged leg-spinner Imran Khan to wicket-keeper Steven Katwaroo. He batted for 137 balls, faced 96 balls and struck six boundaries, and an all-run four.
But Brooks, who brought up his half-century just before the interval off 111 balls with five fours linked up with Chase in an unbroken 75-run fourth-wicket partnership to consolidate the Barbados innings.
In the pre-lunch session, Barbados, who won the toss and batted lost captain Kraigg Brathwaite for five and Shai Hope, who made 18.
Apart from Khan (one for 42), the other wicket-takers for the visiting Red Force franchise have been fast bowler Shannon Gabriel (one for 24) and left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh (one for 22). (EZS)
