Businessman forced to shut shop

AFTER SPENDING more than $2 million to set up shop in Barbados, Australian businessman Tim Walsh has been forced to send home his 20-plus staff, and look for a new start.

And the disappointed businessman now feels it’s time for Government to change its modus operandi to keep the agricultural sector alive.

The 48-year-old Australian has started the process of providing severance pay to more than 20 staff members of his business Nature’s Produce, a specialised farming business in St Peter that cost him almost $3 million to set up.

The business closure stems from last month’s Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) ruling against him in a land dispute.
