‘Get back to God, MPs’

POLITICIANS HAVE BEEN TOLD that citing Scripture or reading the first or second lesson do not make them Christians.

In his sermon yesterday during the Independence service at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Reverend Vincent Wood said that recently, he heard both Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and Opposition leader Mia Mottley quoting scriptures. But, he said, while politicians might be Christian-minded, that did not mean they were saved.

“It doesn’t work in that way . . . . Too many political pastors are giving politicians the impression that they are saved when they have not come to the Cross. They have not come to Jesus . . . . ,” Wood said during the more than two-hour service. (AC)
