Rejoice, but don’t forget God

INDEPENDENCE IS A TIME for Barbados to rejoice in its accomplishments and chart the way forward while recognising there would be nothing without God.

At the National Independence Service at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre yesterday, Reverend Dr Nigel Taylor, in his opening remarks, urged the assembled leaders not to let vanity take hold.

“It is appropriate and timely we be reminded we are guardians of those qualities and principles entrusted to us and we must faithfully preserve those principles which have seen us develop into worthwhile citizens.

“Let us rejoice in our accomplishments but also realise we cannot bask in our laurels and accomplishments; we must press on,” he said.

The theme of the service was Guardians Of Our Heritage: Courage, Resilience, Faith. (CA)
