Boyce praises Chinese cooperation
MINISTER OF HEALTH John Boyce is confident that bilateral relations between Barbados and China will continue to strengthen.
This was evident during his address to Chinese personnel here on a goodwill visit by The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Ark Peace, a hospital ship, at the Barbados Coast Guard Headquarters last night.
Boyce said the partnership had already seen cooperation in agriculture, education, training, culture, tourism and the military.
The minister also told the audience that since the visit of the ship Barbadians had benefitted from a variety of health checks through requests from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the primary health care institutions.
Boyce said that achievement should not be taken lightly because it demonstrated cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health in Barbados; the Chinese Embassy in Barbados and the local medical council.
“This had to be done to ensure we were not in breach of any accreditation rules and that Barbadians can safely seek and obtain that health care on the Ark Peace,” Boyce said. (JS)
