TYRANNICAL AND AUTOCRATIC.
That was the scathing critique of the leadership of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) delivered by expelled [ ] member Dr Maria Agard yesterday, when she announced she would ask the High Court to overturn her expulsion.
“I am determined to challenge the decision to expel me from my party, in the court of law, not only for myself, for a grave injustice has been done . . . ,” Agard said.
The Christ Church West MP said she had no fight “with the party I served for 17 years, even as I reject its leadership as being tyrannical and autocratic”.
Agard was speaking at a news conference held at her dental office in Strathclyde, St Michael. She sat at the head table between BLP members George Griffith and Wendell Callender, while other rank and file members of the BLP sat in the audience along with her two attorneys, Hal Gollop, QC, and Lynette Eastmond.
