Mayers staying home for 2016

THERE WILL BE no overseas race meets for Roger “His Hotness” Mayers in 2016.

Barbados’ fastest man on four wheels said this is due to increased expenditure in preparing the cars of the M&M Racing team for their assault on the events of the new season.

“A new rally car for my brother Barry and an engine refresh for the Ford Focus are the main reasons for me opting to stay at home. A new engine is coming and should be here by the end of the year, or early next year for the Suzuki SX4, so there is too much going on within the M&M Racing team for me to do any overseas meets next year,” he told WEEKENDSPORT.

Mayers, former Bushy Park and Guyana lap-record holder, also said his sponsors want him in Barbados and unless other money could be found, he would be concentrating all his efforts on the sport here. (TT)
