Three cheers for John and Walcott

Trainers Boston John and Edward Walcott Jr shared honours with three winners yesterday on the Christmas Season Raceday, the Barbados Turf Club’s second day of its final racing season at the Garrison Savannah  .

However, by virtue of his gelding Joshua impressively winning the feature race, the 1 100 metres Seasons Greetings Handicap for owner George Devere Davis, John had the biggest victory smile.

Presently second in the trainers’ standings, John watched as his leading creole Joshua easily disposed of his seven opponents. The four-year-old broke smartly from the gates under jockey Antonio Whitehall and settled into a good stalking position behind the leaders.

Leading the field in this event for three-year-old and older horses rated 115-95 were Dazzlin’ David, ridden by Anderson Trotman, and Wild Cat Tea. Pursuing them were Run Alke Run, Luckyluckyme, Giovedi and a badly outpaced A.P. Vincero.
