UWI Blackbirds flew away with the UWI/C.O. Williams Inter-Parish Twenty20 final on Friday night to provide the Cave Hill Campus’ cricketers a fourth local domestic cricket title this year.

Despite losing four top-order wickets in the first six overs of their reply, the hosts eased past the meagre 59-run target set by the St James Settlers in 12.5 overs to take the championship for the third time.

Left-arm spinner Kavem Hodge had earlier ripped the heart out of the Settlers’ batting with figures of four wickets for six runs from four overs to condemn the former champions to 58 all out off only 16.1 overs.

Dominican Hodge struck as early as the fourth delivery of the match by holding on to a return catch offered by Alex Browne and soon had the western parish reeling on seven for three after two balls of the third over.
